The Growing Popularity Of Cubing

In the past few years, Cubing has had a surge of popularity. What was first invented in 1974, quickly became a best seller, at one point being the most bought toy of all time. As innovations are made, mainly from Chinese brands, solving the cube is faster, and easier. The more people solving the cube fast, the more popular speedsolving gets.

Content Creation

In the past few years, Cubing has had a surge of popularity on social media, specifically TikTok and YouTube. People have amassed hundreds of thousands of followers and fame through posting content on these sites and they have been booming with views. People have been able to amass huge fame, purely about this hobby, for example Cuby (3.39M at time of posting), showing how solving puzzles can become a valid source of income! TikTok has become a hive of activity with the cubing community, including myself (insert shameless self promotion here), and has meant that more people have been introduced to the hobby as a whole. 

So, what's next?

I would love to believe that there will be smart cubes that will connect to VR, and the VR will show you the correct moves, teach you new algorithms, and  even hold competitions online in your own room! I would also love to see the community grow, and more people get into this awesome hobby.
